MV Isabelle X television and SMATV integration for 652 cabins

Orbit Communications completed a vessel-wide television and SMATV integration project aboard Bridgemans Services Group’s MV Isabelle X in Squamish, British Columbia. The project delivered television programming to 652 newly renovated cabins, along with lounge, kitchen, dining and entertainment areas throughout the floatel.

Orbit upgraded the vessel’s existing SAILOR satellite reception system by changing the LNB and reprogramming the equipment for Shaw Direct service. A 48-channel THOR headend was then installed and configured to distribute programming in PAL format through the vessel’s existing SMATV network. The work also required careful integration with the ship’s 220V electrical environment.

Following installation, Orbit scanned channels, tested RF performance and verified service throughout the vessel. The completed system provides centralized, reliable television distribution for residents and shared amenity spaces aboard the MV Isabelle X.
